Lunar Eclipse
A Celestial Turning Point
Tomorrow’s full Worm Moon will not rise as an ordinary full moon. On March 3, 2026, the Earth will move directly between the sun and the moon, casting its shadow across the lunar surface and creating a total lunar eclipse. During totality, the bright reflected sunlight that usually illuminates the moon will be filtered through the Earth’s atmosphere. This bending of light allows deep red and copper tones to reach the moon, giving it its glowing crimson appearance. Many call this a Blood Moon because of this rich and striking color.
Astronomically, a total lunar eclipse is a rare alignment. The sun, Earth, and moon must form a near perfect line for the shadow to fall fully across the moon. This event unfolds gradually. The Earth’s shadow slowly covers the moon, deepens into totality, and then gently releases it. The entire process can take several hours, while the deepest phase lasts less than one. It is a visible reminder of the precise and beautiful geometry that governs our sky.
Eclipses do not occur every month because the moon’s orbit is slightly tilted in relation to the Earth’s path around the sun. Only when the full moon aligns with the crossing points of these orbital paths does an eclipse take place. This makes lunar eclipses part of a larger cycle that repeats over years, reminding us that we are participants in rhythms far greater than a single season.
Energetically, a lunar eclipse carries a different presence than a typical full moon. A full moon illuminates. An eclipse intensifies that illumination by introducing shadow. It reveals what has been hidden or avoided. It can feel emotional, clarifying, and sometimes unexpected. Where a normal full moon supports culmination and manifestation, an eclipse often supports release, closure, and redirection.
Because this eclipse rises during the Worm Moon, its message is deeply connected to emergence and renewal. The Worm Moon marks the thawing of the earth and the stirring of life beneath the surface. Paired with eclipse energy, it suggests that what has been buried may now rise into awareness. Patterns may shift. Truths may surface. Chapters may close so that new growth can begin.
This is not a night for forcing intention. It is a night for witnessing. For listening. For allowing what no longer aligns to gently fall away. The darkening of the moon is temporary. The light always returns. Yet it returns changed, carrying wisdom from the shadow it has passed through.
Transformation is not disruption. It is alignment.
Let this eclipse remind you that endings create space. Let it show you what is ready to be released. Let it soften what is rigid and illuminate what is true.
The shadow will pass. The clarity will remain.
